The narrative tells the story of a greedy Kookaburra who falls in love with the moon and steals it from the night sky. The other animals, Frog, Snake, Emu, Wombat and Kangaroo try to make the Kookaburra laugh in order to make him release his grip and allow the moon to escape and return to the sky. It is in the style of a dreamtime myth.
The CD and audio book include an introduction to the instruments of the orchestra, and of course this amazing story. 'Kookaburra' has been performed throughout Australia with every state orchestra including the Sydney Opera House Orchestra and The Queensland Symphony Orchestra, in Seoul (Korean language version) with the Seoul Opera House Orchestra, In England at London Festival Hall, In New Caledonia (in French) and in numerous other seasons across Australia and internationally.
